Forty-five years ago, Theodore Sorenson became a witness to history. As an aide to President John F. Kennedy, Sorenson was part of the group that decided how to respond to the Cuban Missile Crisis. In an Oct. 17 speech at the Kennedy Library in Boston, Sorenson explains how America narrowly averted a possible nuclear war with the U.S.S.R. — and draws lessons for today's leaders.
